Author's Biography
D. V. Andrews holds the M. F. A. Degree in Creative Writing from Saint Mary's College of California and the A. B. Degree in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. He was recipient of the Elizabeth Bishop Scholarship for Excellence in Poetry and was a finalist in both the 2022 and the 2023 Catholic Literary Arts Sacred Poetry Contests. His writing has appeared in Presence: A Journal of Catholic Poetry and on Aleteia. He is presently pursuing graduate research in the theology and philosophy of aesthetics at Houston’s University of Saint Thomas.
His influences in poetry include Seamus Heaney, Howard Nemerov, Robert Lowell, Randall Jarrell, Langston Hughes, T. S. Eliot, Wallace Stevens, Katharine Tynan, John Bannister Tabb, Saint Therese of Lisieux, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Emily Dickinson, and Saint John of the Cross. For their instruction, he is indebted to James S. Torrens, James Matthew Wilson, Christopher Sindt, Brenda Hillman, Graham Foust, Michael Palmer, Mary Jo Bang, Claire Hero, and Carl Phillips.
